Letters

All items were received in a letter from Nintendo that was hand-delivered by Pete. This page lists all distributed letters, including those for non-DLC items (e.g. "chocolate heart") and recurring item releases (e.g. "snowman head").

The preserved letters were obtained from various sources. For every regional version of the game, the progress of letter preservation is outlined in individual tables below. Letters that have been extracted directly from save data (rvforest.dat and wc24dl.vff) are indicated with a green check (✔️), whereas letters of which only screenshots have been discovered are marked with a construction sign (🚧). Any letters that remain missing from this preservation effort are marked with a red cross (❌).

Extracted letters are stored as JSON files, while screenshotted letters are stored as JPG images. Preserved letters are located in the letters directory. Files are sorted by region, release index, language, and item name. For example, the German letter for the European release of the "creepy clock" is named p_50_de_creepy_clock. If the release index is unknown, xx is used as a placeholder in the file name (e.g. j_xx_jp_tokonoma).

During the preservation process, a couple uncertainties have been identified:

• Some sources claim the "Nintendo DSi W" item was distributed in North America in 2010. However, no applicable sources have reliably confirmed this release.
• The "snowman head" was distributed again in North America in December 2010. The English letter text matches the 2009 distribution as shown in this video by 97MiloProductions.
• Player reports on The Bell Tree Forums indicate that the candy distributed in September 2009 was either red, blue, or green. There appear to be no reports of yellow candy being distributed during this period.
• Additionally, it remains unconfirmed whether individual letter texts were used for each candy color of if a single generic letter was used across all distributed colors.
• Screenshots for the "creepy crystal" and "creepy cauldron" from videos on KirbyCrossing's YouTube channel appear to have been edited to show North American letter bodies. The header and footer texts shown are likely inaccurate, as Nintendo of America (NoA) used a different formatting style for creepy item distributions.
